HR and finance teams are doing more of their work in AI tools like Copilot, Claude and ChatGPT. Board packs, CFO updates and first drafts of reports increasingly start there.

The benefits figures you need sit in your benefits platform. Getting one bit of data means leaving what you're doing, finding the right report, setting the filters and exporting it. And the report only answers the question it was built for, so you have to do it all again for the next number.

Happl MCP brings your benefits data to you. It securely connects to the AI tools your company already uses. So you don't need to go looking for data, you just ask.

What is Happl MCP?

Happl MCP is the first MCP built for employee benefits. It connects your benefits data in Happl to the AI tools you work in day to day, like Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that lets AI assistants pull live data from other platforms. For you, it means you can ask a question in plain language and the answer comes back in the chat you're already in.

You connect Happl to your AI tool once and sign in with your Happl login. When you ask a question, your AI tool fetches the answer from Happl in real time and returns it in the conversation.

Read more on how it works.

How Happl MCP fits into your AI strategy

BenefitsOS is the layer your global benefits sit on, built to work with the tools you already have. It connects your benefits, providers and payroll, with 100+ integrations to your HR and payroll systems. Happl MCP takes that one step further and brings your benefits data directly into the AI tool your team works in every day.

A lot of software now comes with its own built-in assistant. If every platform asks your team to open a different one, people end up switching between assistants that each know one part of the business. Happl MCP works the other way round. Your benefits data becomes available to the assistant your company has already chosen and rolled out, so benefits is part of your AI strategy rather than one more login.

You end up with two easy ways to use AI with your benefits data. Inside the platform, Happl AI answers your questions about benefits. Outside it, Happl MCP takes that data to the AI tool you already use, so you can get benefits answers without opening Happl at all. The platform will always be there when you need it, but it's no longer the only way to reach your benefits data.

What HR, reward and finance teams can ask Happl MCP

Benefits spend and cost

Ask for spend by country, benefit type or provider, and split it between employer and employee cost. When finance asks a follow-up in the same meeting, you can answer it without going back to your desk.

Enrolment and take-up

Check how far your workforce has got with their selections, filtered by team or region. You can also look at how people have enrolled, for example how many employees have family members on their medical insurance.

Leadership and board reporting

Ask for a management summary and your AI tool can turn the live Happl figures into a slide or a written update. The numbers are current when you ask, so you're not copying last month's export into this month's deck.

Benefits by country

Pull a clear summary of what's offered in any country you operate in. It's useful when someone joins in a new market, or when you're comparing what different countries get.

Benefits data alongside your other information

Your AI tool can put Happl's answers next to the other information it already has access to so you're working with a full picture of your business data.

Asking for benefits data instead of running a report

Standard reports still do an important job. Payroll and providers need the same data in the same format every month. Happl produces those reports for you and they'll always be there when you need.

But a report answers the question someone expected you to ask. The first number tends to lead to a second question.

Say spend on medical cover in Germany is up this quarter. Is that more people enrolling, or the same people adding family members to their cover? With a standard report, that's another export and another set of filters. With Happl MCP, you ask your follow-up question in the same conversation.

You can change the view as you go too. Ask for the same figure for the last four quarters, or as a table you can paste straight into a deck. You don't need to know which report it lives in or wait for a new one to be built.

Is Happl MCP secure?

Yes. Happl MCP is read-only and follows the permissions you already have in place.

Access runs through the single sign-on and role-based permissions you already use in Happl. Someone who can only see UK data in Happl only gets UK answers in Copilot. Your admins choose which AI tools are connected, and the data is processed only by the tool your organisation has approved.

The figures come from your live Happl data each time you ask.

We've put together a breakdown of where your data goes when AI answers a question.
